The CLAAS workforce in Paderborn is celebrating the site’s 70th anniversary and welcomes the decision to invest 70 million euros

Jan-Hendrik Mohr, CEO of the CLAAS Group: “Our family-owned company will invest more than €70 million in the expansion of the CLAAS site in Paderborn. This decision underlines the central role of the plant within our global production network. The high level of technological expertise and the exceptional commitment of our local staff have been particularly decisive factors. Investments in Germany require a convincing overall strategy, which above all involves competitive structures and the willingness of all parties involved to work together to develop viable solutions. With our joint strategy for the future, we are not only securing highly skilled jobs in the region, but also creating more than 100 new jobs in agricultural machinery manufacturing.”

Investment in robotics, automation and additional space
The aim of the investment is to modernise the production infrastructure at the Paderborn site and to create new production capacity. The production plant in Paderborn will set new standards in automation, digitalisation, productivity, quality and sustainability – not least through the use of artificial intelligence (AI). In their speeches to the guests, the management team particularly highlighted the expertise and loyalty of the workforce and the good cooperation with the social partners. By acquiring large neighbouring plots of land from Heidelberg Materials, CLAAS has been able to secure the additional space required for the expansion, in order to optimise production processes and logistics at the Halberstädter Straße site.

Jan Uhtenwoldt, Managing Director of CLAAS Industrietechnik (CIT): “Today is a good day for Paderborn. We are celebrating our 70th anniversary at this site and, at the same time, looking ahead with confidence: together, we have developed a comprehensive industrial strategy for the future. The determination to create the right framework conditions for this investment in Paderborn was remarkably strong. We are fortunate to have – and to be able to recruit – the technically qualified and dedicated staff here in Paderborn whom we urgently need for the manufacture of increasingly sophisticated and complex agricultural machinery components. Our special thanks go in particular to the social partners who have walked this path alongside us.”

Over the past 70 years, CLAAS has continuously expanded its Paderborn site into a research, development and production centre for high-tech drive technology and hydraulics. Components from Paderborn – such as CMATIC tractor transmissions, TERRA TRAC track systems and specialised hydraulic valves – make a significant contribution to the premium positioning of CLAAS agricultural machinery and are also supplied to machinery manufacturers outside the CLAAS Group.

Further investments are strengthening the CLAAS production network in Europe
CLAAS is expanding and modernising its production capacities not only in Germany, but also in France and Hungary. A new multifunctional production hall is currently being built in Le Mans (France), whilst a new final assembly and dispatch centre is to be constructed in Törökszentmiklós (Hungary).
